ABOUT SUGIHARA KEIKO

Erhu, biwa (a four-stringed Chinese lute). She studied in Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China as an auditor. She was taught erhu by 張韶 (Zhang Shao)and biwa by 林石城 (Lin Sicheng), the post-president of 浦東派(pu dong pai). She has also learnt Gaohu, Banhu and other Chinese percussion instruments. After the experience in China, she has been collaborating with other musicians regardless of the genre and the instruments.
She released two albums ʻMOVEMENTʼ and ʻThe Asian Windʼ in 2009 and 2011 respectively, and published the sheet music ʻThe MOVEMENT album selectionʼ in 2010.
The supervisor of the Japanese translation ʻThe lectures on erhu by 張韶 (Zhang Shao)ʻ. The president of W E N S H A O Publishing, the president of Wenshao erhu ensemble. She has the career as an erhu teacher at Canone music school as well as the experience as a performer. She is the member of the two musical units, ʻAsian Windʼ and ʻSiSiʼ.

Trio consists of erhu (Keiko Sugihara), The Chinese flute (Yayoi Okuda) and piano (Kaori Tai).
The unit pursues the borderless music that challenges the genre of the music, not just the traditional Chinese music. The integration of the sounds of different instruments and the techniques would deliver you the special musical experience.

The unit is the combination of erhu (Keiko Sugihara) and contrabass (Naomi Nakamura). SiSi stands for ʻtwo stringsʼ in Mandarin Chinese and it was chosen for the name of this unit since there are 2 string-instrument-players. The repertoire is broad that does not just focus on the Chinese music.

Erhu (Keiko Sugihara), cello (Yoshiya Yamamoto) and piano (Kaori Tai) Plays the pieces from the classical music to the traditional Chinese music. Recent focus is on original pieces and the pieces composed by Piazzolla.

Wenshao Yueshao erhu ensemble

Wenshao Yueshao erhu ensemble

This unit is the joint ensemble of the Wenshao erhu ensemble and the Yueshao erhu ensemble. Wenshao was established in 2003 and merged with the Yueshao in 2019. This unit is for amateur erhu players who are fascinated to improve their erhu performance or those who want to participate in events, volunteers and recitals. If you are willing to be the part of this ensemble, please contact us. Regular repertoires are Flowers Will Bloom, Homeland, Dance of the Golden Snake and martial arts.
